Biography
Wayna

Currently Wayna lives in Washington, DC. But her heritage lie's in Ethopia, East Africa. She started her music career later on in life, after experiencing many valuable things. She began her studies at the University of Maryland in 1995. Here she became Miss Black Unity and earning a one year tuition Scholarship and special honours for "Best Talent' and 'Best Response to Question" at the 17th Annual Pageant. A year later she founded a gospel quartet and performed at the World Famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem, NY. After having her success with the group Wayna joined the critically acclaimed University of Maryland Gospel Choir, touring the East Coast. Wayna by this time had finished University and gained herself a Bachelor's Degree with a double major in English and Speech Communications. This led her to having a good experience as a professional writer in The White House for the Clinton Administrations. Here, Wayna spent many years preparing for the previous president of the USA Bill Clinton. As a young child Wayna had been listening to Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, and Minnie Ripperton. Her past experiences in performing and singing gave her the confidence to leave her job at the White House and focus on her musical career.

Biography

Teaming up with talented producers Albegasu K Shida, Kev Brown, DJ Roddy Rod, Jame's McKinney and collaborations including rappers and singers Theodros Tadesse, Cy Young and W.Ellington Felton, K'Alyn, all added more magic to her debut. Now signed to Quiet Power/C Side Ent, Wayna has entitled her superb debut 'Moments of Clarity: Book 1'. Her voice has been compared to Billy Holiday and Erkyah Badu. Wayna may be new to the shelves of record stores but with these twelve songs under her belt success is to be promised. Easily Wayna could be hailed the 2005 Organic Soul Queen, with Stevie Wonders comment "Her voice reminds me of Syreeta's...She's Incredible!", provides us with faith that Wayna is going places. Having already opened for Fantasia, Kindred, Bobby Valentino and Common, Wayna will be the artist to watch out for in 2005.
