KuKu has his Nigerian roots shining through on his acoustic and soulful EP. Here is our interview in print below, I hope you enjoy it.

Matthew: Which was the first album you couldn’t stop playing?
Kuku: Michael Jackson - Off the Wall.

Matthew: Which genre of music did you first start listening too?
Kuku: 60's, 70's Soul (Parents USA Import Collections)

Matthew: Was your family music orientated?
Kuku: Some worth, Music was always playing in the household.

Interview

Matthew: What time in your life did you realize music was the path you had to choose?
Kuku: During College years, though I have always thought about working in the business as a kid, either as a writer, producer (background stuff).

Matthew: Which legends do you like in music?
Kuku: Marvin Gaye, Fela, Temptations, King Sunny Ade, to name a few.

Matthew: What song wish you'd written?
Kuku: So many, but Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" is one.

Matthew: What do you think of terrorism?
Kuku: Hateful humans, who hide behind the institution of Religion, even though religion preaches peace.

Matthew: If you could change one thing about today’s world what would that be?
Kuku: I would only make humans live a long peaceful and fruitful life, and only die of natural causes, rather accidents, diseases, and terrorism.

Matthew: If you were stuck on a desert island with just a stereo and 5 cds, what CD’s would they be?
Kuku: Wow, I guess a mix CD is out of the question. I really don't know, I have so many favorites. I will carve a guitar out of wood, and make my own music instead.

Matthew: What can we expect from KUKU in the future?
Kuku: Some heart felt honest music that I hope regardless of preference, everyone from children to grandparents can enjoy and relate to.

Matthew: What does kuku mean, and were did the name come from?
Kuku: To cut a long story short, KUKU simply means to live and remain. That’s my last name which originates from Ijebu-Ode, Yoruba land in Western Nigeria.

Matthew: Who do you respect most, and also in the music business?
Kuku: I respect a number of people with drive and talent.

Matthew: Will you spare the time and join Just Soul’s forum?
Kuku: Definitely!

Matthew: Which the best advice your received?
Kuku: I think "Remember where you come from".
