Matthew: What states are you individually from?
Kyle:
I’m originally from Georgia, Atlanta. Richard, he’s from Boston, Brandon &
Brian’s from Hartford, Connecticut.
Matthew: What’s life like away from Jagged Edge?
Kyle: We was friends before we actually began the group. I mean: life outside Jagged Edge is different to just some regular guys, we just enjoy each other’s company.
Matthew: Is it kinda crazy?
Kyle: I mean yeah, was just some popular guys, and were in it for the music. You know, we always try and stay fresh, and try to be around pretty girls, and stuff like that.
Matthew: Are you familiar with R&B groups like the Manhattans, Blue Magic, The Delfonics, if yes, have they played a part in your musical influences?
Kyle: I mean we definitely know those guys; they are like the founders of not just R&B music but Soul music. For them to have years of experience we kinda like right behind them by droppin’ our 5th album & we been here for 10 years. We feel like were pickin’ up from were they left of at, you know, it’s a new era.
Matthew: But have they played an influence?
Kyle: Influence? Our musical influence is Gospel/Hip-Hop, but it’s like the real Gospel & the real Hip-Hop. We just really enjoy what we do because it defines our style. It’s kinda Gospily but yet it’s street, so it’s kinda intricate.
Matthew: What do you turn to for inspiration in your lyrics?
Kyle: The thing about ideas is we write about things based on reality, things that we go through. We just keep it real because with reality, you can always go back and put a song on that can take you to some good times.
Matthew: Do you have any tours fixed or any UK visits?
Kyle: Everythings looking lovely right now. Were ready to go out on our own tour. I like Genuwine, just a couple of other cats like Ne-Yo & Chris Brown…they got it all happenin’. It’s been spoken that Mary J Blige Wants to tour with us again.
Matthew: Thank you for this interview, Kyle.
Kyle: Thank you.
